Inclusive Learning Policy

Althea Academy is committed to creating an inclusive, accessible, and supportive learning environment for all individuals. We believe that education should be accessible to learners of diverse backgrounds, abilities, experiences, and learning styles. Our instructional design approach integrates principles of accessibility, universal design for learning, and learner-centered education to support meaningful engagement and success for every participant.

Commitment to Inclusive Learning

At Althea Academy, we strive to design learning experiences that are welcoming, respectful, and accessible. Our courses are developed with consideration for learners with diverse needs, including individuals with visual, auditory, cognitive, and mobility differences.  We recognize that accessibility is not a one-time action but an ongoing commitment to improving how educational content is designed, delivered, and experienced.

Accessible Learning Design Principles

To support accessible learning, Althea Academy aims to incorporate the following practices into our educational materials and digital learning environments:

  • Clear course structure and logical organization of learning materials
  • Readable typography and accessible formatting for digital content
  • Descriptive alternative text images when appropriate
  • Captioning or transcripts for multimedia content when available
  • Thoughtful use of color and contrast to improve readability
  • Consistent navigation and intuitive user experience
  • Clear instructions for assignments, reflections, and learning activities

These practices are informed by principles from Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility and inclusive learning are ongoing priorities at Althea Academy. We regularly review our educational materials and digital learning platforms to identify opportunities for improvement and to enhance the learning experience for all participants.  As new technologies, tools, and best practices emerge, we seek to incorporate them into our course design and instructional strategies.

Third-Party Platforms

Some learning experiences, videos, or resources may be delivered through third-party platforms or services. While we encourage our partners and vendors to follow accessibility standards, the accessibility features of these platforms may vary.

Learner Support and Feedback

We welcome feedback from learners regarding accessibility and inclusive learning. If you encounter barriers to accessing course materials or participating in learning activities, we encourage you to contact us so we can work toward a solution.
